So, what’s all the fuss about the Emerald Necklace? This party will show you: This is a tour of three of the special sites on Redlands’ Emerald Necklace, those green spaces and historic sites that surround Redlands. The tour starts at Gateway Ranch staging area in Live Oak Canyon at 9am with breakfast treats and hot coffee. You’ll be loaded onto a big yellow bus – that’s right, a school bus. No luxury, but much fun! First stop, San Timoteo Nature Sanctuary, west end, and Beverley’s Pond – the only wetlands in Redlands – to learn about the whole restoration process. Second stop, San Timoteo Nature Sanctuary, east end, for a tour of the restored native vegetation. Final stop, back to Gateway Ranch for a tour of the native plant gardens to show how natives can be effectively used as landscaping, and a mighty fine lunch at The Watering Hole. At each stop, you will be treated to delicious snacks and hors d’oeuvres and beverages provided by local purveyors. When it’s all done, you will know why we make such a big deal about Redlands’ Emerald Necklace.
