Juneteenth Celebration & Music Festival

Community & Non Profit Last updated

The Juneteenth Celebration & Music Festival is a FREE event! Bring your friends and family, but most importantly, spread the word. Not sure what Juneteenth is? Continue reading...

What is Juneteenth?

Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on the 19th of June to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. It was first celebrated in Texas in 1865 in the aftermath of the Civil War where slaves were declared free under the terms of the Emancipation Proclamation that was issued on 1 January 1863.

Why does that matter to you?

As a community, it is important to support and honor Juneteenth, as it is a celebration of liberation for black communities, but that liberation came at a significant cost. To honor the lives that were enslaved, lost and forever impacted by the system, we ask that everyone in the community attend, learn a little, create dialogue and genuinely connect with one another in a way that uplifts and supports.

A Little About STN + the Juneteenth Event

Stronger Together Now is a 501(c)3 community-driven organization that aims to improve connectedness and provide resources for the people of the Inland Empire. Our main purpose is to enable, educate & empower Redlands and Inland Empire residents through cultural and historical events, such as our upcoming Juneteenth Music Festival & Celebration.

We look forward to highlighting dozens of local businesses, and cannot wait for the community to experience this FREE Music Festival Celebration! Blessing the stage will be some seriously iconic bands -- Lakeside featuring Captain Mark Wood, Slave, and rapper Domino. We are bringing old school and new school together to tackle major issues that plague our communities such as access to services, safety, and lack of inclusivity. This event will be a bridge that brings our community together. And, what better way to do that than through music, amazing food, inspirational services, and education? You can also look forward to a church ceremony led by Bishop Green, a parade and flag ceremony, where the singing of the African American national anthem will be witnessed for the first time at Sylvan Park.

One goal of Stronger Together Now is to use this event to empower the black community & its businesses, while bringing something new and unique to Redlands. So, we invite you to come along with us! Let's learn, grow, and thrive as a community! Let's have a bite to eat, chat about history, dance, sing, and go on a fantastic and meaningful voyage together! We look forward to seeing you at Sylvan Park on Juneteenth, 19 June 2022.
