5 Gyms in Redlands, CA to Support Your Health Goals

With the decline of corporate gym culture and relentless hamster wheel workouts, many are looking for a more personalized fitness experience. Redlands is home to many family-owned gyms and studios. We were lucky enough to interview a few owners we know and love and meet some new friends and their communities.

Level up your Training: A playground for fitness and fun for the whole family!

Host: Diego

If you’re looking for a gym beyond treadmills and dumbbells, look no further. The Wolf’s Den is the ultimate fitness playground for the entire family. This unique facility combines serious training with serious fun.

The Wolf's Den specializes in functional fitness inspired by the American Ninja Warrior. This Redlands gym is not just a gym—it's an amusement park.

When we arrived at The Wolf’s Den, we were in awe of its size! We were lucky enough to have Deigo, the founder and leader of the pack, give us a tour. The place offers something for everyone, from rope climbing and wall jumping to knife throwing, ramp running, and a classical gym.

They have members ranging from 3 years old to 64 years old — who all compete in various agility competitions. Last year this Redlands gym secured 205 podium wins!

Diego’s journey started with the popular American Ninja Warrior show. He believes everyone can learn from their failures, and without his personal experience on the show, The Wolf’s Den wouldn’t exist.

Accompanied by his team, Deigo is the creative mastermind behind the obstacle courses. Although the courses themselves look intimidating, they have the space and the creative genius to design courses suitable for anyone, from beginners to professional ninjas.

When Diego isn’t at the gym, he literally cleans up his city. He and a few other members and coaches are often found cleaning up graffiti and trash around the neighborhoods. Besides setting a good example by giving back, he helps his pack find the confidence it takes to get stronger and try new things.

At The Wolf’s Den if you ever get caught saying, “I can’t,” someone will hold you accountable and make you do 30 burpees! Aside from the friendly competition, they host birthday parties and have group classes. They also play dodgeball, go on community hikes, and plan beach trips.

Jacquelyn was lucky enough to get to attempt (and succeed) running up a ramp wall. One of the coaches gave her the confidence to feel both strong and safe! If this new year has inspired you to try something new, check out the Wolf’s Den and join their pack [insert howling noise]!

Strength in Simplicity: A Small Gym with Big Results

Host: Wade (and family)

If you prefer a more focused and personalized approach to fitness, Infinite Fitness is a true hidden gem. They are all about strength, functionality, and building connections. With class sizes capped at roughly 10-15 people, every session feels like personal training tailored to your unique goals.

The heart of this gym is its inspiring owner, Wade. We had the pleasure of meeting Wade almost 7 years ago. Back in the day, he was working as a trainer at another local gym. He eventually got hired at Infinite Fitness as their head trainer, and now he owns it!

Wade’s experience creates an environment where everyone feels empowered to tackle their challenges, whether physical, mental, or emotional. His story reminds us that strength is about more than muscle. He believes in genuinely meeting people where they are and moving from there.

Unlike big corporate gyms, you don’t have to wait your turn for specific stations, machines, or other equipment. Focusing on traditional barbell lifts, they create a safe environment that can accommodate any exercise background, injury, or expertise. During the workouts, you get to be in your world.

There are enough areas for everyone to have their own bars, weights, and other fun toys. Every day is a different focus, and you can truly dive into your zone. Even though you are working out independently, you are never alone. Infinite Fitness coaches and welcoming members support you as you progress at your own pace. Ian got to do some classic barbell squats with Wade for old-time sake.

If you’re looking for expert guidance, a welcoming community, and a no-frills approach to getting stronger, this is the place for you.

Core Connection: A Pilates Studio Rooted in Tradition

Host: Megan

In the middle of the hustle and bustle of downtown State Street, there is a quaint Pilates studio that has been there since 2001. This intimate yet inclusive studio offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Here, classically trained instructors guide clients through the transformative practices of Joseph Pilates’ original methods.

State Street Pilates honors the foundational Pilates principles with precision, control, and breath from the core in every session. They are committed to ensuring that each movement is intentional and effective.

Megan, the owner, greeted us in their charming lobby, which was filled with fun pilates gear ranging from merch and props to so much more. Once we entered the studio, we were immediately transported to an intimate and chic space with a great view of our favorite city! Megan's pilates story started as a dance major who was taking pilates to promote injury prevention.

She later broke her foot in an accident that required surgery. Her physical therapy from this injury transitioned into pilates, and she fell in love. Megan got her comprehensive certification from Riverside City College (RCC) to be able to teach all types of pilates. She started teaching in 2018, eventually becoming the third owner of State Street Pilates in 2022.

The first thing you see when you walk into the studio is 3 Reformers. These look like torture devices but were designed to be a teaching tool for the body. The metal-based machines work every muscle of your body, finding all the different shapes of the spine, helping you curate a deeper connection to your core, and aiding in better posture.

We both got to play and work with these machines. It was both humbling and fun. Megan’s ques made the small exercises feel so strong. In addition, State Street Pilates offers mat pilates classes to help train and build strength in different and accessible ways.

Whether you’re looking to improve your strength, recover from an injury, or simply find a fitness practice that will benefit your body and longevity, State Street Pilates offers a welcoming space to begin or deepen your Pilates journey.

Yoga for everyBODY: A Yoga Studio That Welcomes Everyone

Host: Lisa

Vasa is more than a yoga studio. It’s a community hub where people of all ages and experience levels come to move, breathe, and connect. Founded by the passionate yet humble owner Lisa, Vasa was founded as a retail store 10 years ago selling yoga clothes and accessories.

Today Vasa is a thriving yoga studio that emphasizes mindfulness, movement, and community. At this Redlands yoga studio, the practice yoga about touching your toes or perfecting a pose. It is about finding joy in the practice and discovering what works for you.

Jacquelyn found Vasa in 2017 as a way to find more balance and flexibility. She quickly found that having a strong yoga practice was way more than doing a handstand or breathing loudly. She fell in love with the community and became obsessed with the challenging classes. Yoga also helped Jacquelyn learn to relax and find some quiet stillness in her busy life.

If you’re looking to get stronger and more flexible, Vasa also has a variety of classes that challenge your body, mind, and breath. The most popular classes are their classic All Levels Vinyasa/Yin classes that start with a slow warm-up to help promote mobility. The warmup is followed by a strong heated flow and ends with a relaxing cooldown.

Yoga Conditioning is a lively class that uses low-impact weight lifting to help amplify strength. If you’re looking for more grounding at a slower pace, Vasa offers beginner classes to help you get comfortable with the lingo and props. Their Restorative classes help guide you and your nervous system into complete surrender with supported poses and sometimes a sound bath. Yin classes (Ian prefers these) offer more active stretching that helps with muscle recovery and relaxation.

This is hands-down one of the best yoga studios for those of all ages. They recently celebrated a student who just turned 80 years old by hosting a special class for them! Besides the class offerings, the studio hosts a Yoga Alliance-accredited Yoga Teacher Training Certification program every couple of years.

If you’ve been searching for a yoga studio that feels like a second home, Vasa is the perfect fit. Come for the yoga. Stay for the community. Leave feeling more balanced, centered, and inspired.

The gym that has it all. Seriously

Host: Sean & Jill

The Energy Lab is a downtown gym known as the “heartbeat” of Redlands. It offers something for everyone under one roof. Ian and I first heard of the Energy Lab and its mission in 2020 when we started contributing to About Redlands’ Live Local Love series.

What truly sets The Energy Lab apart is its emphasis on building community. Group classes are more than workouts—they’re team experiences where members cheer each other on and form lasting connections. The gym regularly hosts events, challenges, and social gatherings to unite everyone. It fosters a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.

Sean and Jill Rooks are the owners and founders of The Lab. Jill has a lifetime of experience in the wellness world, dating back to 1998 when she began training her friends in her garage. (She’s come a long way since then!) With her husband's and family's support, she opened The Energy Lab in 2006. Today, she orchestrates her passion for health and strength every day.

The gym has a handful of outstanding coaches who teach it all! Want to join a team to get strong and challenge yourself? Looking to relax and destress? They offer both.

Have you heard of Hyrox? It's a revolutionary global fitness race that combines running and functional workouts. As an affiliate of Hyrox, The Energy Lab trains athletes from all over to compete against themselves and thousands of other competitors. The Energy Lab was also the first Southern California gym to become an official gym for the Spartan Deka Races.

Ian and Jacquelyn personally love doing DEKA. It's a timed event challenging your mental and physical strengths. If you’re not quite ready to compete, don’t worry. They have personal training and classes to help you reach your goals, big and small.

The Energy Lab is your answer if you’ve been searching for a gym that does it all and feels like home. Discover a world of fitness opportunities, inspiring coaches, and a community that will help you reach new heights.
