The Spinet music organization will present an evening of solo piano and chamber music on Tuesday, February 17, at 7:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, located at 100 Cajon Street. The public is invited to attend this free program.
Pianist Sandy Pappas will perform works by Chopin and Grieg, followed by a performance from the Olive St. Piano Trio, featuring Aaron Weintraub (violin), Becky Long (cello), and Ed Yarnelle (piano). The trio will perform Clara Schumann’s Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 17.
Pappas has studied piano for many years, including the past 20 under the instruction of Inessa Niks, developing the Niks technique of tension-free playing and building a diverse repertoire of musical styles. She holds a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry and regularly shares her music at Azure Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church. A member of The Spinet since 2008, she has performed at several meetings and also teaches snow skiing to individuals with disabilities. Her February 17 program will include Grieg’s Piano Sonata in C major, along with a Chopin nocturne and valse.
Additionally, The Spinet’s March program featuring the “Pianos Plus” eight-hand quartet has been moved one week earlier than originally scheduled and will now take place on March 10, utilizing the Contemporary Club’s two grand pianos.
