Higher education researcher Brianna Huynh will speak on “Finding Belonging in Mathematics: From Transfer Student to Researcher” at the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Redlands Branch meeting on March 7, 2026. Brianna will share her “nontraditional” journey through higher education. She is a recipient of the 2025-26 AAUW National Selected Professions Fellowship and currently serves as the 2025-26 Andrew Nichols Higher Education Research Fellow at EdTrust. Brianna’s personal narrative informs her master’s thesis, a research project examining the experiences of mathematics students who transferred from community colleges to local four-year universities. She will describe her research methodology, presenting her initial findings and focusing particular attention on the voices of female and non-binary students navigating transfer, belonging, and identity in mathematics.
- RSVPs are required HERE, preferably by Feb 22. Social starts at 8:45 am, brunch at 9:30 am costs $25. People can come at 10:15 am to listen to the program for free. AAUW Redlands is a nonprofit dedicated to advancing equity for women and girls through education, empowerment and advocacy, including scholarships, STEM education programs, and leadership training.
