The City of Redlands and the Redlands Police Department are partnering with Unity in the Community, Common Vision Coalition and The Village Second Baptist Church to present the 8th Annual Redlands Juneteenth Celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Sylvan Park.
This is a free, family-friendly event that celebrates freedom, culture and community through a full day of entertainment, education and fun.
Live entertainment will be presented throughout the day, including gospel music, jazz and soul performances, and a live DJ rotating between scheduled acts. A variety of educational presentations will include talks from A.K. Smiley Public Library staff, the 97th U.S. Colored Infantry Regiment, and other community partners who will share insights into the history and significance of Juneteenth.
For families, the Kids Zone will offer bounce houses, obstacle courses, a video game truck, carnival-style games with prizes, and foam cannon fun for children of all ages.
Guests can shop from a vibrant lineup of local vendors and artisans, including The Knit-Wit (stuffed animals, key chains, and table toppers), Kat Co Creates (wooden magnets, recycled glassware, and jewelry), Carlie’s Candles, Nancy Lunsford’s seasonal baskets and Juneteenth gifts, and Carol Barber’s hand-crafted fabric items. A delicious range of food options will also be available, with hot dogs from Dawgs for Dogs, fresh juices from Nate’s Fruit Fusion, shaved ice from Kona Ice, and hearty comfort food from Loaded Up, specializing in loaded baked potatoes.
Sylvan Park is located at 601 N. University St., at the intersection of University Street and Colton Avenue.
