How YouTube Changed the Way I See Photography On Monday, January 5, Redlands Camera Club will present a behind-the-scenes look at how a quiet love of photography grew into a streaming channel watched by thousands. The speaker, Pieter Nystrom, is a photographer and YouTuber whose channel, “Still Winding”, focuses on finding stillness in the everyday. Blending a love of architecture, quiet city streets, and small moments of natural beauty, Pieter has developed a style he calls “Empty Street Photography.” It is calm, reflective, and rooted in seeing the world with intention. His channel highlights the joy of walking with a camera, working with imperfect and soulful lenses, and exploring how photography can serve as both art and self-care.
In this presentation, Pieter will share how he started in photography, what drew him to video, and how the two mediums now shape the way he sees the world. Through personal stories, selected video clips, and a curated set of images, Pieter will reveal how his photographic voice developed, focusing on stillness, everyday scenes, and the calm of “empty street” photography. He’ll talk about choosing what to photograph, crafting a narrative, and finding motivation in the ups and downs of online storytelling.
This free presentation of the Redlands Camera Club is open to the public and takes place at First Presbyterian Church in Redlands. Find parking and the entrance at 105 South Fourth Street. A social time will begin at 6:30pm with the program beginning at 7:00. The program will also be shared digitally via Zoom.
