Redlands Camera Club: Nightscape Photography

Nightscape Photography: Coupling terrestrial and celestial A subgenre of landscape photography, nightscape photography involves capturing images of compelling landscapes at night. A nightscape image will often include elements of the night sky, such as the Milky Way, stars and constellations, meteor showers or lunar eclipses as a backdrop to featured foreground elements. On Monday, September 8, astrophotographer and Chief Observer of the Riverside Astronomical Society, Cheryl Wilcox will encourage a little “star therapy” to the Redlands Camera Club. From simple, single images to more advanced works of art, the goal of the nightscape photographer is to capture our place in the universe. The challenge is finding the balance between Earth and sky, conveying a story and the photographer’s artistic vision. Wilcox’s presentation will help photographers understand how to take and edit nightscape images, and provide tips for planning a nightscape outing. This free presentation of the Redlands Camera Club is open to the public and takes place at First Presbyterian Church in Redlands. Find parking and the entrance at 105 South Fourth Street. A social time will begin at 6:30pm with the program beginning at 7:00. The program will also be shared digitally via Zoom. For more information, see the Redlands Camera Club website
