Embark on a family-friendly, two-mile journey through the iconic landmarks of Redlands!

A Redlands Cycling Tour the Whole Family Will Love

Redlands, California is a bike-friendly city with scenic routes, well-designed infrastructure, and a welcoming cycling community—perfect for riders of all ages and experience levels. The following tour is one of our favorites to families, thanks to its relatively flat topography, plethora of fun things to see, and great places to stop for a bite or to play.

  • Estimated Time: 1-2 hours
  • Start/End: Redlands Visitor Center

Part 1: Parks and Culture

A.K. Smiley Library

Start:

  • Begin at the Visitor Center.
  • Turn right onto E. Citrus Ave
  • Turn left onto Cajon, follow the sidewalk toward the park 0.1 miles
  • Follow the path through the park, keeping to the right 0.1 Mile
  • Exit the park turning left onto South 4th Street 0.1 miles
  • Turn right to follow the road in front of the Library

A.K Smiley Library serves as a wonderful rest stop and features a lovely children's room, along with stunning stained glass windows and restrooms.

Part 2: The Redlands Bowl & Stage

  • From the library, turn left onto South Eureka Street 0.1 miles
  • Take an immediate right to enter the paths surrounding the Redlands Bowl 0.1 miles -Go on stage to do a dance!
  • Cross Grant Street and continue on the path through the next park - which has a restroom. Exit the trail to the left on Alvarado 0.4 miles

Part 3: Neighborhood Discoveries

Olive Market Avenue
  • Turn right onto Olive Avenue 0.1 miles
  • Turn left onto South Michigan 0.7.miles
  • Turn right onto West Clark 0.3 miles
  • Turn left onto Normandie Court - ride to the end to view the unique houses, then come back out the cul-de-sac 0.1 miles
  • Turn left on West Clark Street
  • Turn right onto South Center Street 0.1 miles 

If the kids are behaving, treat them at Olive Avenue Market!

Part 4: Historic Landmarks and a Hidden Alley

Umbrella Alley
  • After continuing on South Center Street, turn right onto Brookside Avenue (Hot tip: Notice the Museum of Redlands across the street and plan to come back for a visit.)
  • Turn right onto Orange Street 0.4 miles - Stop to admire the Historic Post Office
  • Turn right onto State Street 0.5 miles
  • Turn right onto 5th Street and you’re back. At the Visitor Center! 0.1 miles

Look across the street to Redlands’ Umbrella Alley. This is a great photo opt.

Know Before You Ride!

  • Safety First: Always wear a helmet and use hand signals when making turns downtown.
  • Hydration: Be sure to fill your water bottles before you head out!
  • Parking: There is plenty of parking available at the Alabama Street shopping center.
  • Sunscreen: Don't forget to apply sunscreen and carry it with you!
  • Fuel up: Olive Market is a local favorite for snacks and drinks mid-ride.
