Sponsor a Child • Inspire an Artist • Build a Future

Sunday, November 8 • 12–2 PM
Cyclery USA

100 local children, ages 8-14, will transform repurposed umbrellas from Umbrella Alley into colorful works of Redlands-inspired art. The finished umbrellas will be displayed inside Cyclery USA through November 2027.

"We are giving the retired umbrellas from Redlands Umbrella Alley a second life. Children will transform these previously used materials into a new public art installation—keeping materials in use longer, reducing waste, and demonstrating how creativity and sustainability can work hand in hand. It’s a colorful example of upcycling and environmental education right here in Redlands.” Deborah Ohara, Board President

Note: Umbrellas will be available for pickup at the Redlands Visitor Center after September 15. Follow the Center on Instagram and Facebook for more information and announcements.

Your Sponsorship Supports

Redlands Art to Market

Teen Entrepreneurship Showcase

Helping Redlands high school students:

  • Create Redlands-themed artwork
  • Sell their artwork at the Redlands Visitor Center
  • Keep 100% of their sales
  • Learn marketing and entrepreneurship from local business mentors

Long-Term Community Impact

Together, these two initiatives create a pathway from creative expression to entrepreneurship. Re-Shade Redlands introduces younger participants to art, creative reuse, and community pride, while Redlands Art to Market gives high school students an opportunity to explore how creativity can become a marketable product.

The goal is not simply to create art, but to help young people develop confidence, practical business skills, and an understanding that their ideas and talents can have real value in the marketplace. By connecting students with local business mentors and providing an actual venue to sell their work, the program offers an experience that goes beyond a traditional art project or classroom lesson.

We believe this project will strengthen connections between youth, local artists, businesses, environmental sustainability, and the Redlands community, while creating a model that can continue and expand in future years.
