City of Redlands
Basic | 909-798-7510 | www.ci.redlands.ca.usWork planned to correct Orange Street intersection deficiencies
The City of Redlands has met with contractors who performed resurfacing work on Orange Street over the summer and work will begin May 21 to correct deficiencies in the brick paver intersections along the street. As part of the Downtown Reinvestment Program, the Orange Street and Redlands Boulevard Resurfacing, Sidewalk and Landscaping Improvement Project installed brick pavers in the intersections located on Orange Street at Pearl Avenue, Stuart Avenue, Shoppers Lane, Redlands Boulevard and State Street.
Following completion of the work, the City identified deficiencies in the intersections, including settlement of the brick pavers that did not meet the City’s contract specifications for the work. City personnel met with the construction contractor, All-American Asphalt Company, to remedy the settlement and install replacement brick pavers to provide a high quality finished product. All corrective actions will be the responsibility of the contractor and the City will not incur any additional costs. The corrective work will be done in phases on the following schedule:
Phase I: Intersection of Orange Street & State Street. Work is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 21, and is anticipated to conclude Wednesday afternoon, May 25. During construction, Orange Street will be closed between Citrus Avenue and Redlands Boulevard and State Street will be closed from Orange to Fifth Street.
Phase II: Northbound intersections of Shoppers Lane, Stuart Avenue and Pearl Avenue. Work is scheduled to begin Wednesday, May 25, and conclude Wednesday, June 1. During construction, northbound lanes of Orange Street will be closed. One lane of traffic in each direction will be provided in the southbound lanes of Orange Street.
Phase III: Northbound intersection of Orange Street at Redlands Boulevard. Work is scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 31, and conclude Friday, June 3. During construction, northbound lanes of Orange Street will be closed, as well as Redlands Boulevard, between Orange Street and Fifth Street. One lane of traffic in each direction will be provided in the southbound lanes of Orange Street.
Phase IV: Southbound intersection of Orange Street at Redlands Boulevard. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, June 6, and conclude Thursday, June 9. During construction, southbound lanes of Orange Street will be closed, as well as Redlands Boulevard between Orange Street and Eureka Street. One lane of traffic in each direction will be provided in the northbound lanes of Orange Street.
Phase V: Southbound intersections of Shoppers Lane, Stuart Avenue and Pearl Avenue. Work is scheduled to begin Wednesday, June 8, and conclude Monday, June 13. During construction, southbound lanes of Orange Street will be closed. One lane of traffic in each direction will be provided in the northbound lanes of Orange Street. Motorists should anticipate delays and high levels of traffic congestion during construction. It is recommended to use the various detour routes that will be posted at locations around the City. Access to businesses in the project area will be provided.
Daily progress reports, detour routes around the City and construction schedule updates can be found on the City’s website
