The City of Redlands will hold a ribbon-cutting Friday, Sept. 19, to commemorate the completion of the latest segment of the historic Zanja Trail, stretching from Church Street to 7th Street.

The community is invited to attend the ceremony beginning at 9 a.m. Parking is available off 9th Street. The ceremony will be held under the arch at the Church Street end of the trail.

The newly completed trail segment enhances the walkability of Redlands and underscores the City’s ongoing commitment to preserving and celebrating its rich history. The trail follows the path of the historic Zanja waterway, originally constructed in the early 19th century to provide water from Mill Creek to the surrounding areas.

Today, the Zanja Trail serves as both a recreational space and a living reminder of the City’s heritage. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will feature remarks from Mayor Mario Saucedo, and other City officials and community members and will include a Bird Song Blessing led by State Assemblymember James C. Ramos.
