Hilda dreams of faraway places and only finds tedium in running the Holly Railway Station. That is, until Leo Tannenbaum drops in out of nowhere the day before Christmas Eve. Suddenly, an old radio that hasn’t worked in years springs to life, the local group of carolers (which usually yowls like a gang of wet cats) begins to sound like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and the whole town gets the Christmas spirit. This eccentric small town is full of wise-cracking characters finding the true wonder of Christmas. Director Rob Thurmond helms the production alongside stage manager Michael James. Thurmond describes his vision for the town of Holly as “a snow globe of magic where anything is possible and yet nothing is what it appears to be.” This heartwarming play will conjure up the magic of the holidays and inspire the true meaning of Christmas: love and hope within one’s heart. With a family-friendly storyline there will be something for everyone to enjoy - including caroling around a Christmas tree! This talented cast includes; Suzy Pearce as Hilda Trowbridge, James Muro as Satch Brunswick, Nancy Huffacker as Maggie Clooney, Brady Huffman as Leo Tannenbaum, Ali Rafter as Penelope Blaisedale, Spencer Carter as Mr. Fairfax, Katharine Buffy Henshaw as Myrna Hobsnagle, Lexi Scanlan as Donna Fay Cummings, Joe Rossi as Jerry Cummings and Miguel Erickson as Devon Smith. Jenni Thurmond will be tackling costume design for this 50’s centric look as well as putting a modern twist to it to solidify this magical globe setting. Aimee Ullrich will be helping backstage as one of Santa’s Elves for various tasks including stage organizer. Ali Rafter, President of the Footlighters Board of Directors, states, “We’re so excited to bring Christmas Express to the Footlighters stage this holiday season! Our two year member and volunteer, Miguel Erickson, will be joining the cast and making his first stage appearance since high school! Break a leg Miguel!”
