About Me

Renee Rojanaro studied music at the University of Redlands where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice as well as her Masters of Arts degree in Education. She enjoys working as a Band Director for a public school district in Southern California and also offers private voice instruction to students in the Inland Empire.

As a professional vocalist for many years, Renee has worked in various facets of the music industry. Some of her credits include: Television appearances, radio jingles, voice-overs, musical theatre, producing and directing stage shows, and performing for countless audiences across Southern California.

Although Renee has a wide range of musical experience, what she loves most is performing with her jazz band before a live audience as she brings to life those nostalgic torch songs of the 30's and 40's. She is regularly featured in jazz clubs, restaurants, lounges, country clubs and for various private and corporate events.

"Behind every small business, there's a story worth knowing"

Renee was born to sing, literally! She was singing songs before she learned to speak and began performing on stage by the age of two...although she doesn't recall those early events!

"As a child, when I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up- my answer was always: A singer and a teacher. Turns out I found a way to combine both passions as a MUSIC TEACHER and the lead singer of my own Variety Band AFTER DARK. I really don't have a favorite style of music-although it sometimes feels as though my soul stepped out of a 20's Speakeasy-and I am lost in nostalgia whenever I am singing jazz! But I love to sing it all!

Before I had children of my own, I enjoyed work doing music for TV commercials, Radio jingles and studio recording projects. When my daughter was born-I took time off from performing and only sang in church...she seemed to have the hereditary music bug and I kept busy taking her to HER OWN music performances. I took a 20 year break from performing. When my son came along and turned 8, I put my band together and have been back on stage where I belong...where it feels like home! We are a professional private/corporate variety band specializing in Weddings, and Private Parties and themed events from 1920's through Today!

Oddly enough, I am a public school teacher of Elementary Band-and I teach pre-school through 8th Grade choir at Valley Prep in Redlands. However, I never ONCE was involved with band, choir, or any formal music program before graduating high school. I studied private singing and piano-but found my time taken up with other interests-including KUNG FU and Math Clubs and beauty pageants!!

I am currently writing my first original country album and am releasing my first music video of the my Single called "First Mother, Forever Friend" which I wrote for my mom on Mother's Day. The music video features many mothers and children from Redlands and is expected to be released by Valentine's Day! This song, along with 4 others from the album are available on iTunes and Amazon Music.

  • Influences: Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe
  • Hero: My dad
  • Married with 2 children
