In days past, the river was the place to be. Get up early for a set “on the glass.” Take a few laps and change off with your driver. The rest of the day was too rough, but hey it was so much fun.
Now, when I see the absolute glee on a skier’s face when they make the course for the first time, it brings a child’s excitement to mind. That’s right, the course. Maybe you know exactly what I’m talking about, and maybe you’re just hoping it’s something new you don’t know about.
Well, slalom skiing is a small world and I learned of tournament skiing only five years ago. I always skied, but this – totally different and addictive. And it’s done on private ski lakes that are always glass and no one else is around but your ski buddies.
OK it’s like this. The course - there are two tether ball-type buoys anchored about 10 feet apart, and that’s the gate you ski through. Then, about every 60 feet, on alternating sides, there is a buoy 20 feet out that you slalom ski around. Six total turns and out the end gate. Sounds simple and easy, and it should be, but the intensity increases as the boat speed increases and the rope length decreases.
So much fun, great people to hang with and good clean family fun that everyone can enjoy. You don’t even need to own a boat. If you’re interested in knowing more, or you just know you have to do this, feel free to check out our web site and always feel free to email. I’ll ski ya later!
