Friday Night in Redlands is growing to be a great night. I don't like Thursday nights because of unruly, disrespectful kids, but Fridays seem to really be catching on. As long as businesses don't give up, this can be successful. Love the entertainment. They are all very good musicians.
I came out to Redlands at Night on May 21 with my wife to enjoy the vibe and sit in on clarinet for a couple of numbers with Matt Cole and 4 on the Floor jazz trio in the 6th and State gazebo. What a delightful atmosphere you're creating out there. Enjoyed a great burger and shake at Betty's Burgers, too!
I'm one of AboutRedlands.com biggest fans...
Your website is awesome.
Redlands downtown Friday Nights is terrific!! I hope it stays around for a long time. So many choices in music. What an awesome idea. However, I'd like to see the music played later into the night. I particularly enjoyed 'Four on the Floor + one more'. Keep it up Redlands!
Had not attended Market Night since October 2009 because of my night job. Last night was my first night back. We loved it all! Fun to see the Pros and Cons of government on opposite corners. You have got to listen to the music and have dinner there too. Had a wonderful time. WE LOVE REDLANDS!!!
OMG...did you hear the man by Redlands Galleria singing old cowboy songs and bluegrass? He was amazing! He says he'll be there every Friday night.
I really loved the music downtown. Not sure who is responsible, but thank you. My wife and I had such a nice evening.
I'm a downtown business owner and know how you feel. Most of these stores that are closed told the paper and company that is organizing the event they would participate in Friday nights. It makes it harder for the rest of us who want to stay open for people like you. I hope you won't give up. We are trying to change and sometimes it takes others longer. Did you at least like the music and window shopping?
I understand why the people in charge of Friday nights are doing it. I read an article in the paper yesterday that talked about the Mall and how they didn't know what is going to happen with it. Redlands is in bad shape downtown and we need more regular things like Friday nights to keep people interested. If not, then we will all go somewhere else to shop. I know I will.
Yes, there has been music downtown but never long enough to create a consistent vibe. That's why when people want to shop they go to cities whose businesses stay open until 9pm on Fridays. The music on Fridays is an upper scale vibe, not Market Night. Market Night attracts too many problem kids. Friday nights does not. BIG difference. Where have you been?
Downtown Redlands merchants have had live music downtown many different times and also EVERY Thursday nite.
We LOVE Friday nights. Although our Bank closes at 6, we can enjoy the music and atmosphere, and hope the walkers, shoppers and musicians enjoy our windows and new planters. What a joyous place to be. Thanks for covering it!
I drove all the way to shop and the stores that you said were open were not. There were lonely musicians on corners and in front of stores playing their little hearts out but noone was even listening to them. At the park there were 6 people, 4 of them which appeared to be homeless. It seemed no different than every other Friday night I have been to Redlands. There has always been a lot of cars and people out eating but that is IT! I feel that this is false advertising.
What a fantastic evening we had downtown. We parked and just walked around while enjoying live music and singing. We'll be back!
Finally, someone figured out something that should have been done a long time ago.I have been waiting for almost 3 years. Thanks to the people who figured it out. Better late than never! It's a start.
I just came from conducting some business in Downtown Redlands. What a delight! I encountered three groups of young musicians, and stopped briefly to enjoy all of them. What a great atmosphere! Kudos to you and your colleagues!
Friday nights downtown are great. We changed our night to go out to Fridays. However, one complaint, many of the stores that the paper said were open were closed. We came down with friends and ate at Caprice and wanted to shop at Haven. Why are so many stores closed when there are so many people coming down for the music?
Friday Night was so great...better than Santa Monica.
