This is Old School Redlands. It's as a steak house should be with the red leather upholstery and the dark paneling. We eat there often, and all of our out-of-town friends request the Tartan when they visit. The service is friendly. We order the fried onion rings cooked extra well done to nibble on while waiting for our food.

I can't speak for the other beef dishes, but definitely the best burger in town. Decor is clubby in a late sixties/early seventies kind of way.

I have noticed that you post the daily specials for the Tartan Restaurant. My wife is a waitress there and she has told me that since you have been posting those specials they have been getting quite a bit of new traffic coming in. I was wondering if you could post a special for my Window Cleaning business?

It was the first time. I can't believe that this place has been here longer than we've lived in the area, and we haven't been before.

My wife was impressed, although there isn't much on the menu that she can eat with her allergy to beef and dairy products. But she thoroughly enjoyed her ham sandwich (without cheese) and we both enjoyed the fries. My hot pastrami sandwich was about the best I've had. We want to go back!

Nice, old-school decor, especially with all of the Christmas decorations.

Thanks for guiding us to this place!

No one makes a cheeseburger quite like the Tartan. Very well priced for the quality and they'll make it however you like. My husband likes his like a hockey puck and I like mine to say hello to me when it's served, and that's just about how they come. Yum.

They make great drinks and if you get a fou fou girlie drink they don't cheap out on the alcohol like a lot of chain restaurants do. Prices are good and the servers are friendly. The other night I ordered a drink that was too strong for me and the waitress kindly converted it to a more manageable level of alcohol for me and she didn't charge me extra for the trouble. Again, drink prices are good and not overpriced like a chain restaurant would be.

Every time my husband and I have been there we are the youngest ones there. This is great!!! The place is usually crowded with the geriatric crowd and it's noisy but at a comfortable buzzing level and not obnoxiously loud. You can carry on a conversation there even when it's packed and still not have to shout. Nice!

Whenever I go to the Tartan, I always swear that I'm going to try something different, but I always end up ordering the Tartan Burger. As other reviewers have said, it's one of the best burgers in town. They are all cooked to order, I get mine Medium with Swiss cheese, bacon and grilled onions, and it is damn tasty. In-N-Out has nothin' on the Tartan! Oh, and you must absolutely try the deep fried green beans. They pair very well with a nice Sam Adams.

The wait staff is friendly, fast and efficient. A+
