CRUISE SHIPS GO GREEN!

In 2009, in excess of 13.5 million people around the globe took an ocean cruise. To meet an increasing demand for cruise vacations, 68 new ships were launched between 2000 and 2005, with 14 more in 2007. In 2009, cruise lines launched 20 new vessels, 10 of which were riverboats and 10 ocean-going vessels. The largest cruise ship ever built, the “Oasis of the Seas”, 220,000 tons with 5,400 passengers made a huge splash went it went into service in 2009!

When I was in college, my parents very graciously allowed me to partake of all that my college had to offer. One of the offerings that my university had was a semester abroad in . I secretly think that they allowed me to go so that they could visit me. In fact, during that semester, my parents, sister, both sets of grandparents and various friends arrived on my doorstep. It was funny…every time I asked someone to send me something from home, the package came with them attached to it.

You Are My Hero Sandwich

My mother cooked enough food for 100 people and all of it was incredibly delicious. Spanikopita (Greek spinach turnovers), dolmathas (grape leaves), lamb, tri tip roast, ham, potatoes, salad, dyed red eggs (dyed in the Greek tradition for the blood of Christ), and roasted vegetables were crowded onto the table. It was truly a glorious feast.
